Pull on a pair of Tree Trunks and you’ll discover a superior softness with an unrivalled level of comfort. The softness comes from Tencel Modal, a fabric derived from beech tree pulp sourced from sustainable forests in Central Europe. An impressive 95% of raw material winds up as Modal, a fibre that is – according to Japan’s Kawabata evaluation system – twice as soft as cotton.

Yet a soft and environmentally-sensitive fabric tells only half the story. Tree Trunks are designed by James Lamont, known for creating go-faster fabrics for elite cyclists, skiers and swimmers (Ian Thorpe wore one of James’ designs when he won an Olympic gold medal). Having positioned all seams away from potential chafe areas, James has added a touch of stretchy Lycra to our Modal fabric for extra support – and to ensure that your sleek Tree Trunks retain their signature shape and fit after repeated washes. Not that you have to launder Tree Trunks every day: beech tree fibres are naturally antibacterial and dry quickly – helpful attributes when you travel fast and light. (Although perhaps not quite as fast and light as Ian Thorpe.)

Weight: 70g (medium). Certification: wood pulp procured for Tencel Modal fibres adheres to Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) standards. Manufactured by our friends in sunny Portugal.

Fun fact: Modal was invented in the 1960s. Originally called Hochmodul 333, one of its first applications was as a tape for sealing bags of potatoes.

Don't buy other undies

These are the only undies I willingly wear nowadays, bought my first pair as a student nearly 12 years ago, they are the comfiest, most hard wearing boxers ever, they deal with sweat like it's nothing. My only criticism is that the black ones seem to last way longer than the other colours, even then it's only the difference between 5-6years and 7-8 years which seems longer than most undies would last anyway...

Excellent for cycling in

Super comfy, hard wearing boxers. I cycle a lot in these and they are the only boxers that stand up to daily commuting and stay comfy. I wont look anywhere else now.
